Catch!Cup 4 Recap
November 6, 2014
Hollywood Rec Center - Sunday, October 12
We held our very first Catch! sessions in Hollywood. So, for our first Catch!Cup here we knew we had to do something special - The first Catch!Cup played under lights, and the world's first-ever Braveheart Tournament (that may not actually be true but just go with it for now...)
For those of you unfamiliar, a "Braveheart" is a 1 on 1 full-field game that starts with a faceoff and ends when one player scores a goal. Sometimes the game ends quickly, but other times (as we saw) there can be several possessions before someone finally scores. This event was special because it was the first time we asked players to compete as individuals, rather than as part of a team. We place so much importance on team-play and communication that we were a bit hesitant to feature a game that is all about the individual but, as expected, our players turned out for a great day of competition, with some spectacular plays and highlight reel goals. Most importantly, we saw some truly exceptional examples of good sportsmanshipand camaraderie developing on the field.
Some Quick Stats:
60 Minutes of Gameply for Every Player
100% of Players Scored a Point
We love to give stats for feedback after the event but these are the most important to us: everyone got a chance to play and improve, and every player contributed to scoring a goal.
The lights certainly made for a whole new feel to this Catch!Cup and we're sorry to anyone who missed it, as we may not have another Night!Cup for a while. We're looking forward to seeing everyone back at Pan Pacific Park this Sunday for Catch!Cup 5 featuring the Catch! Combine.
